Psalm 42:1-2 (ESV)

1 As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?

The experience of the Psalmist expressed in Psalm 42:1-2 may not be your experience.

So many persons have no longing for spiritual things. God does not feel real or personal to them. God may not even seem relevant to their daily lives and the pursuit of their goals and dreams.

Many who don’t feel a desire to be connected to God in a vibrant spiritual relationship have never really had a close relationship with Him. Others had meaningful spiritual encounters with God in the past but have been disappointed in their faith experience, or they have simply drifted away from a spiritual and God-centred lifestyles.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY TO PERSONS WHO DO NOT FEEL ANY YEARNING FOR GOD?

Review  Yearning For God

Is there any hope for those who feel far from God?

Which of these bible passages tells us that there is a blessing to those who hunger and thirst for God?

John 14:27 (ESV)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

In an ancient depiction of peace, the artist portrayed a stormy scene marked by dark clouds, streaks of lightening, drenching rain, and boisterous winds. All around were symbols of terror and upheaval. Yet, in the crevice of a rock, there was a tiny bird enjoying peace in the midst of the storm.

Peace of mind is not a state of being marked by the absence of trials and difficulties. Rather, it is the presence of assurance in the midst of life’s storms.

Do you find yourself constantly worried about life and its challenges. Do you spend much of your mental or spiritual energies reflecting on the past or thinking about the uncertainties of the future?

Those who are waiting to have all their fears, trials and problems resolved, will struggle to enjoy peace of mind. Nevertheless, you can go to God in faith and ask Him to grant you His peace.

WHAT DOES THE BIBE SAY ABOUT PEACE OF MIND?

– Peace of mind is a gift from God – Romans 15:13, John 14:27

– Peace of mind comes from living in harmony with the will of God – Romans 5:1

Resist the tendency to want to control every minute detail and outcome of your life. Commit your future to God. Center your life around prayer, faith and the assurance that God is in charge of the story of your life.
